Life Launches Asbestos Awareness Training
21 January 2011
Following a series of successful seminars, Life Environmental Services has announced the first in a series of training events to help raise awareness of changes in asbestos management.
Aimed at those involved in either carrying out asbestos surveys or sampling or those responsible for managing asbestos, the training will give delegates an in-depth insight into the changes introduced by the Health and Safety Executive this year.
The change to HSG 264, which replaced the MDHS 100 Surveying, has not only reduced the number of asbestos survey types from three to two, it has raised the standards required.
“The HSE has raised the bar for those responsible for ensuring their organisations complies with the Duty to Manage requirements laid out in the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006,” says Life Environmental’s training manager, James Mennell.
“The new regulations dictate that for a demolition or refurbishment survey, there are few if any caveats and the level of expected intrusion to a building’s structure has increased. It’s important that anyone responsible for managing asbestos understands the changes so that their organisation stays compliant and safeguards building users and the general public.”
The first series of training events, costing £85 per delegate, starts at Beaconsfield on 27 October 2010, with a further five dates running up to Glasgow on 11 November.
